ELECTRIC MOUNTAIN TEMPORARY CLOSURE

AS OF 15/09/18 ELECTRIC MOUNTAIN WILL BE CLOSED FOR REFURBISHMENT AND PARTIAL DEMOLITION. THIS IS A VERY EXCITING PROJECT FOR US!

UNFORTUNATELY DURING THIS TIME, WE WILL NOT BE FACILITATING TOURS OF THE POWER STATION. WE WILL RE-START OUR TOUR OPERATION IN EASTER 2019 (date tbc)WHERE THEY WILL RUN FROM A TEMPORARY BUILDING LOCATED IN OUR CAR PARK UNTIL THE NEW CENTRE RE-OPENS (Please note that there will be no catering facilities within the temp build).

Set against a magnificent backdrop of the mountains and scenery of Snowdonia, an amazing feat of engineering; a power station hidden inside a mountain. At Dinorwig Power Station – the Electric Mountain – water, gravity and man’s ingenuity work together to produce electricity. The largest man made cavern in Europe, 180 metres long, 25 metres wide and 60 metres deep, it could happily house St Paul’s Cathedral.
Your journey of discovery starts with our informative film introduction to how a pumped storage station like the one at Electric Mountain ensures the country’s electricity demands are met. Next, jump aboard our Electric Mountain Bus and begin the descent through the labyrinth of tunnels to the heart of Elidir Mountain where you are set to experience one of man’s greatest engineering achievements. Following one of our friendly experts you will have the opportunity to see first hand what makes Electric Mountain unique.
